Characters: Fakir/Fakia

Fakir

Fakir attends the ballet academy along with the rest of the main class and shares a room with Mytho in the boys' dorm.  He is studious, introverted, and is suspicious and condescending of others.

Fakir also appears to be Mytho's best friend, but the relationship between them is unusual.  Fakir seems to be in control of every aspect of Mytho's life, regulating where he is allowed to go, what he is allowed to do, and whose company he is sanctioned to keep.  Fakir occasionally tells Mytho that the things he thinks and says are stupid and/or worthless, and not to put himself in dangerous situations for the sake of other people, especially strangers, as he might get hurt.  As Mytho lacks feelings, he does not seem to care that Fakir protectiveness is pushed to the extremity of being possessive and controlling.  He obeys trustingly, and even seems to be grateful to Fakir for looking out for him from time to time.

Fakir also attempts to bully other people around on behalf of Mytho, to lesser and greater success.  As Mytho gradually regains more of his feelings, the tension in the relationship between Mytho and Fakir becomes more intense.

Fakir's attention is so focused on Mytho, that there seems to be little else in his life to amuse or distract him and as a result he is seemingly intolerant of foolishness in others.  Even dancing seems to be merely an outlet for deep thinking and tightly wound feelings for Fakir.

As we watch, we must ask: Why is Fakir so intense about controlling Mytho?  From what is he trying to protect him?  What will happen as Princess Tutu defies Fakir's wishes to keep Mytho heartless?  What will happen if Mytho himself defies Fakir's will?
