Information about This Website

As is probably obvious, this site is under construction and will probably continue to be under construction for some time. What you will find here is information about why this site exists, how it came to be, information about updates, problems, contributions, and me.   Finally, there is also some information about disclaimers.

The Website:   This website was created in March of 2005 for the promotion of a fandom for Princess Tutu.   This is a wonderful anime that has been largely overlooked by anime fans everywhere, possibly because it was poorly advertised, or maybe because of the dancing (ballet seems to scare some people) or for some other reason.  At any rate, please please please feel encouraged to contribute to the promotion of this anime!  I will not refuse help as I am very busy and cannot promise to update frequently as my workload increases throughout the quarter.

The Webmistress:  Hi, the webmistress is me.   ^_^  My name is Amy.  You can call me that, or refer to me by any other penname/alias I've gone by since I started watching anime and participating in fandom.   I started participating in anime fandom in high school, some 4 or 5 years ago (who keeps track?).  I've stopped worrying about being too old for it.  Lol.  The truth of the matter is that I'm an English teacher and I love stories.   If it's a well-crafted story with something important to say and characters to care for, I'm going to like it, and I don't care if its a Pulitzer prize-winning novel or an anime about ballet dancers that turn into ducks.   So here I am, writing analysis for a Princess Tutu, and who knows?  Maybe somebody will learn something from it and the purpose of English class will make more sense!   That being said, it probably goes without saying that I love writing, including fanfiction, and I'm a stickler for deep thinking, organization, and proper use of grammar and mechanics.   So if I get a little nuts on anyone, there's my excuse.

Disclaimers:  Alas, I do not own copyright privileges to Princess Tutu and nothing I do on this website is designed to make me any kind of personal profit.  Actually, I hope to make the producers of the anime a profit because promoting fandom tends to do that.  Please buy the anime!  I did.  It's worth it.

In Regard to Fansubbing on Screen Caps:  Although I own this anime (or will own it shortly--it's not all available at the time this is being written) the screen caps provided here in the Gallery section and throughout the rest of the page are taken from fansubs.   This is because I previewed this anime (the first 13 episodes) via fansubs on the computer before I bought it.   I'm explaining this because the fansubs request the distribution of the anime be terminated after licensing.  It is my understanding that some people believe that capturing screen images made from fansubs is bad etiquette.   However, I hope that visitors understand that the fansubs did what they were designed to do (inspire purchase) so it is my wish that the creators and fans will forgive me for using the fansubs to capture images.  I don't have the equipment/software to capture screen images from the actual DVD or I would not use them.  If anyone does have a problem with this, please contact me directly.

Other Anime/Manga Fandoms I Like: Other than Princess Tutu, I am a huge fan of Gundam Wing, Fruits Basket, Akira, Card Captor Sakura and Cowboy Bebop.   These shows, at least, are the ones have endured as precious to me.  I have also seen other things and been temporarily "hooked" on them, particularly when I was younger.  In middle school/high school I was a fan of Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z for example, but the above anime/manga are the series that I have loved for a long time, have spent my own money on to possess in DVD form, and recommend to a variety of age levels for a variety of reasons, none of which I will list here.  I'm just adding the information in case anybody is curious.  ^_~

Thank you for your time and please enjoy the site!
